On the 23rd May 2021 I was thrilled to be awarded Fellowship of the Irish Photographic Federation.
It all started during lockdown 1 early in 2020. I have been creating my own versions of Goddess imagery for a few years now with the ultimate aim of combining them all into my own fantasy narrative. This would mean a departure from the usual "stand alone" type image which I create to arranging them into a coherent panel specified by the awarding body.
Having my synopsis at the ready and with the help of my fabulous mentor Gabriel O'Shaughnessy FIPF FRPS MFIAP EFIAP/g I created the Awarded Panel of 20 images in two rows. Whilst the story is not important in this case it was the basis for making a coherent panel of images. The title is "A Prophecy of Dragons".
On 23rd May 2021 via the ZOOM platform I was able to watch the panel being assessed live by 8 Fellows of the Irish Federation - and I have never been more nervous in my life except for when i took my driving test! Of course I don't know who voted for the panel but who could resist it when Bill Power FIPF EFIAP/p MPSA ARPS called it "Delicious" and Ross McKelvey MPAGB MFIAP FIPF EFIAP/p FBPE argued beautifully its merits. Dom Reddin FIPF who assessed the prints was equally enthusiastic thankfully ... note here that the paper it was printed on was a Fine Art Baryta which snobbishly sounds much more professional than "semi gloss" : )
All my images are created from photographs taken by myself including all textures, overlays and bespoke brushes.
...And you can't have a story about Dragons without a spell binding portfolio to keep them safe.... This is one of the smaller portfolios for A4 prints, but never-the-less it weighs in quite hefty with the metal work and dragon sculpture made by myself of course!
If you want to find out more about my images and the story behind the Prophecy of Dragons series, please contact me for details of talks where I explain all....
